Marbles Lost

Homunculus vestige,

Time lapsed, with violence impressed,

Forced submission, nothing chosen

A clambering terror of faded glories.

Past worlds never die, but masks do fail.

Carried in synaptic bondage,

Exerted efforts to banish forth the strain.

The cruellest joke,

To forget is hard,

to remember harder,

The surface buckles under times great weight.

Excitation drained, ebbed away,

Nothing draws near.

Pathways fallen into disrepute,

Rusted grey matter, shrunken,

The well goes dry,

So much lost,

Much more never gained…
