'Guest Sonnet-'Flight To Eternity', by Jyotirmoy Ghosal '

 Poetry Galleries

  I stood beside the cool rippling rill,

  A thousand veronicas danced in front of my eyes

  Their dancing and twisting shadows touched that skies

  O! What beauty held me, quiet and still.

  My eyes in the water, espied shadows two,

  One was I and the other unknown.

  For a while, amidst the clouds were sewn

  And I was away from this world of woe.

  A sweet whisper of the wind or what;

  The sweetest I had ever heard

  But (my sorrow) who it was; I could find not.

  I started and gazed and searched for her,

  The clouds had gone, the sun had set and lost was she.

  To the cool ripping rill, I could not demur.
